Training Programme
CITP in Ōtepoti Dunedin (Training in Action) provides training that leads to certification as a Psychodrama Director, Sociodrama Director, Sociometrist, or Role Trainer. Training in Action is part of the Christchurch Institute for Training in Psychodrama (CITP) and is accredited by the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Psychodrama Association Inc (AANZPA).
Training involves attending the year-long programmes, training and experiential workshops, reading, writing, peer practise group, social activities and supervision. Most courses are open to those who wish to develop their professional abilities without necessarily becoming certificated practitioners.
Core Curriculum Training
- Introduces the core elements of the psychodrama method.
Intermediate Training
- Strengthens trainees’ directing, auxiliary and group work.
- At this point, trainees write a short paper in an area of interest applicable to their work.
Advanced Training
- Trainees are required to choose a primary trainer,
- To belong to AANZPA,
- To run groups in the community and
- Have supervision for their work.
Training in Action may create multi-level training groups to suit training needs.
Application for Training
Trainees need to have, be working towards, or planning to attain a professional qualification in their chosen field. Your application is done in three stages:
- Apply using the Enrolment form.
- A Training Interview for new trainees: the purpose of the interview is to determine professional goals and to assess the relevance of prior learning, to outline the training process and to begin to develop a training plan. This interview is free of charge. Contact a Staff member or the PANZ Ōtautahi Christchurch Campus and Ōtepoti Dunedin Campuses administrator to make an appointment.
- You will be notified of acceptance at the interview or by email. Your place will be confirmed by the payment of fees.
Once the enrolment is confirmed this Training Agreement is in place.
Training Programme
Ōtepoti Dunedin Multi-level Training Group 2022
Begins 12 March 2022. Ōtepoti Dunedin. This training involves participating in a year-long programme consisting of experiential workshops, reading, writing, peer practice group, social activities and supervision. Most courses are open to those who wish to develop their professional abilities without necessarily becoming certificated practitioners.
Spontaneity Training 2022
2022, 14 & 15 May. Dunedin. Trainer: Sara Crane. Assistant Group Leader: Judith McDonald. This training weekend is an invitation to spontaneity and supporting yourself to be more confident and creative. Through a variety of shared experiences, you will be developing new responses to old situations and be stretched to be experimental.
Role Training 2022
2022, 6 & & August. Dunedin. Group Leaders: Judith McDonald and Maria Snegeriv. Ever had the experience of wishing you could’ve ‘rewound the tape’ and said or done something different to get to a better outcome? Welcome to Role Training!
Five Day Marae Based Intensive Psychodrama Workshop September 2022 (Karitane)
Karitane: 21- 25 September 2022. This experientially based training includes both theoretical and practical components. This is part of the training for Dunedin trainees, Christchurch Intermediate/Advanced group trainees and the workshop is open to others. This workshop is suitable for anyone working in the human relations field.
Working with Couples in Groups 2022
29 – 31 July This workshop is for health professionals who work with couples or who would like to work with couples. The workshop is experiential. In the training, we use psychodramatic methods and principles we can use with the couples. Trainer: Walter Logeman.
Ethics and Supervision 2022
18 & 19 June 2022. Dunedin. Trainer: Hamish Brown. This two-day workshop will engage you, the supervisor, in focusing on your practice in the area of supporting your supervisees where there are ethical considerations.
