2018 – Friday evening, April 6th plus full day Saturday and Sunday, April 7th and 8th
(Non-residential, weekend workshop : Limited to 15 people)
Freedom to Act . . . unleashing the creativity of surplus reality
Surplus reality opens up our imagination to see other worlds and possibilities. Psychodrama production becomes artful when participants are able to release themselves from the constraints of the cultural conserve (‘from how things are usually done’). They go through an inner process which creates the freedom to become creative, and artistic.
One of the highest forms of spontaneity that Moreno identified was the capacity to move between fantasy and reality easily and to be creative. Resources such as myths, metaphors, books, politics, history, films and dreams become well-springs of imagination and inspiration, for producers, auxiliaries and group members. The healing impact can be unexpected, refreshing and stunning.
In this workshop we will work and play to discover what supports or hinders this ‘freedom to act’. You will learn through supervised practise. Participants can expect to develop a heightened state of readiness to ‘meet each moment’ as it emerges with an individual or group.
Paul Baakman (MAANZPA MNZAP PBANZ) is a Trainer (TEP) with the CITP.
He has conducted psychodrama training sessions for 25 years and is actively involved in the supervision of trainees.
Paul runs a private practice as a Registered Psychotherapist in Christchurch and his work is informed by the theory and practice of Psychodrama. He lives in Banks Peninsula where he regularly ‘goes bush’ with his grandchildren. When it comes to Spontaneity, they are his teachers.
