Introduction to Psychodrama series 1 – Psychodrama

This one day training workshop will serve as an introduction to the psychodrama method with a focus on key areas of theory and practice.
22 March. Psychodrama Workshop. Psychodrama is a method that enables us to look at life in all its complexity in a profound way. ‘Psyche' relates to the spirit or mind, while ‘drama' relates to the stories acted out in life every day. By combining thinking, feeling and action, psychodrama gets to the reality beneath the surface in order to learn things about ourselves and habitual patterns that will help us make a real difference to our lives and the lives of people around us. As a participant in a psychodrama session you can explore the life situations that are of interest and concern to you through dramatic enactment. In the course of the enactment you can grapple with and resolve difficulties that limit you, and which will enable you to express, refine and integrate new ways of being and doing. Psychodrama assists us to re-examine our current life situations, our past, our social networks and cultural context; to generate new perspectives on particular events or situations; to develop fresh responses to entrenched relationship dynamics; to prepare for future situations in which you wish to function with a greater degree of flexibility, vitality and immediacy; to bring together action, insight and ‘here and now' experience as you engage with life and to enlarge perceptions of yourself and others.
The psychodrama method is taught experientially. This means that the training is highly interactive, involving you with working with yourself, your life, the life of others and the development of the group. This method of teaching provides a form of deep learning that grounds the learning in your identity not just a series of ideas. You will gain from this training workshop if you are looking for an introduction to psychodrama method or a refresher of the fundamental principles of psychodrama.
