Intermediate & Advanced Training Group 2026

The Intermediate/Advanced Training programme includes a series of workshops in which trainees’ application of the method in their various settings will be the primary focus for coaching and supervised practice.

During this year-long programme, trainees can expect to undertake reading and writing assignments with the intention of completing initial papers or their thesis as described in the AANZPA Training and Standards Manual. The training will focus on the integration of the method and developing the identity of the practitioner. This will require trainees to identify specific areas noted in the Training and Standards Manual they wish to hone and to display their practice, bringing forward their applications of the method for learning and discovery through experimentation. In addition to attending the training programme, trainees are expected to have regular supervision with a trainer and to address their own personal development or therapy.

This year the programme will be led primarily by Vivienne Thomson along with Martin Putt and visiting trainers Simon Gurnsey and Cissy Rock. The programme includes three opportunities where all Auckland trainees will get to work together: at a 1 day in September when the venue has been booked for trainees to get together and organise themselves to practise together without supervision; a 3 day National workshop in October when we will be focusing on sociodrama which will be co-led by Viv, Martin & Cissy; and the final workshop for the year will be a 2 day event with all Auckland trainees co-led by Viv & Martin.
