Introduction to Psychodrama February 2025
Psychodrama methods are effective, empowering and fun. This psychodrama weekend being offered by PANZ Ōtautahi Christchurch Campus is open to anyone who wants to experience the psychodrama method and will be of particular interest to those of you considering training in psychodrama.
The more general term psychodrama includes psychodrama, sociodrama, sociometry, role training and spontaneity training. You will be introduced to concepts like spontaneity, creativity, role, social and cultural atom, surplus reality and specific psychodramatic techniques like self-presentation, mirroring, doubling, role reversal, concretisation and maximisation.
The applications of the Psychodrama methods can be found in many different fields including management, training, education and therapy. Psychodrama-orientated groups change lives; they do this by assisting people to develop their capacity to maintain positive relationships in times of stress. This capacity is so often missing in the families we grow up in and the broader social systems of which we are a part. Psychodrama provides a structure to work on developing your ability to relate effectively to others and the unfolding process of your own life. Psychodrama enables us to develop a life that is rich and full, to flow from inner to outer, and back; to create and take joy in creation. It is a method that recognises our interrelatedness with all that is and provides a solid means to address deep feelings and the ongoing work of our becoming; participating in creating ourselves as we want to be.
