Introduction to Psychodrama series 5 – Spontaneity Workshop

This one day training workshop will serve as an introduction to J.L.Moreno's concept of spontaneity with a focus on key areas of theory and practice.
18 October: Spontaneity Workshop. Spontaneity is a foundation concept of the psychodrama method. It involves an ability to respond to people and situations with immediacy, vitality and thoughtfulness. It involves a letting go of the old and a movement into the new. Spontaneity can be experienced in expansive functioning and in the smallest of actions. The development of spontaneity enhances our ability to act in the here-and-now as one moment unfolds into the next. We begin to respond in ways that are free from the constraints of emotional and social habits and move away from an over-reliance on conserved patterns of behaviour. A greater level of spontaneity enables us to bring forward our creative abilities and resourcefulness and to move into the unknown with courage and confidence.
The psychodrama method is taught experientially. This means that the training is highly interactive, involving you with working with yourself, your life, the life of others and the development of the group. This method of teaching provides a form of deep learning that grounds the learning in your identity not just a series of ideas. In this workshop we will focus on developing our abilities to respond freshly and creatively to a range of both new and unfamiliar situations and understand Moreno’s concept of spontaneity in a lively and practical way.
