3 x non-residential weekend workshops (Friday evening plus Saturday and Sunday)
Our year-long multi-level programme will build your experience and practice of the psychodrama method every day in your chosen profession, work, in your community, in your relationships and in play.
This will be achieved through supervised experiential learning of group development and psychodrama, sociodrama, sociometry, role training. We will extend your imagination in using different forms of psychodrama in many settings.
The group will be structured to meet the needs of the different levels of experience of participants. Trainees will participate in group interactions and dramatic enactments as audience, protagonist, auxiliary and director.
You will receive supervision on your application of the method using the real-life situations you face daily in your life and work.
Each weekend workshop will have a different focus:
- Weekend 1 (Feb/March): Group work, sociometry, ethics and leadership.
- Weekend 2 (June): Psychodramatic techniques and application of role theory in one‑to‑one clinical work and in groups with supervised directing.
- Weekend 3 (October): Sociodrama, working with organisations and social systems.
Each weekend will include a teaching segment, reflective practice and writing exercises. The full curriculum is outlined in the AANZPA Training and Standards Manual which is available on request.
There will be a requirement for trainees to practice the method with peers or clients throughout the year with written tasks and reflections.
